Aspen Beachcamping units are big with privacy, washroom, shower are a definite assets, lots of recreational activities for the family. (posted: 2004)Gold
The campground isn't too bad, but if you like swimming and watersports go somewhere else. You need to walk 2 miles to get up to your waste!! (posted: 2004)Bronze
(2004): Great family facility. washrooms/showers and grounds well kept and clean. The beach at Brewers is perfect for small children as the water is shallow. Will return and highly recommend. (posted: 2004)Gold
Comments (2005): I would highly recommedn this park for anyone looking for a real camping experience. The facilities are very well kept, the staff friendly and the location is beautiful. (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2006): Aspen Beach has everthing (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2006): What a joke the camping was, paid upfront for 4 nights with the possibility of a 5th night. They told us as long as we notified them by noon we would be ok....not so, they gave our campsite away by 10:30 in the morning and were extremely rude about it on top of a serious lack of professionalism and customer service. (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2006): Power sites are not very private, nice playgrounds. Beach is gross. Full of gull poop and gross, sticky mud that you have to walk through to get to water. (posted: 2006)Silver
Comments (2007): Staff very rude/ignorant, told first that only 4 spots were available, after moving in, friends told us they were just offered a pick of 60 sites.....too rude for my young family. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): Very ignorant staff, extremely rude on phone even before we got there. Highway robbery for firewood. Beach very+++ busy. Too many people, not enough privacy. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): (2007) My family and I have stayed in Brewer's twice. The girl at the reservation cabin was always very helpful and friendly. We had absolutely no problems with staff. The bathrooms were fairly clean and the showers worked well. I like my camping a little more private than some of the sites are but we managed to get a nice site next to the playground the second stay. All in all, a worthwhile campground to stay, and for us, just a short drive. (posted: 2007)Silver
We had been going to Aspen beach for holidays for about 3 years in a row and really liked it and praise to everyone about it until last year, the staff was very unprofessional and extremely rude. will never recommend again (posted: 2008)Bronze
IF you can actually get ahold of any staff to make a reservation...then we really enjoy the camping. The beach is great and the water is shallow so it makes for great swimming for our young children. The only downfall is the staff never seem to be available to take calls for reservations. (posted: 2008)Silver
BanffComments: Is there a National Park in the city? It just seemed like one big tourist trap, and really, what type of National Park fences off a high and fragments the park into essentially two seperate parks. Are we really working on preservation here or just profits. Go to Jasper or Waterton - they actually follow there mandate. (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): This park has been ruined by mismanagement. Overused to the point that preservation is no longer an option. Sad really. (posted: 0000)Bronze

Comments: this park is beautiful, i go annualy. lots of wildlife and great interperative programs. great view of the mountains, and the weather isnt too bad either! (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2006): Banff is gorgeous! Both the moutain views and the quaint little town are highly worth visiting! I return there as often as I can. Far better than Jasper! (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2007): The only difference between Tunnel Mountain and Walmart is that you pay for Walmart. NO fires and nothing but a big cement pad. I forgot i was in the mountains (posted: 2007)Bronze

Nice lake for a day of fishing, but there's no swimming, and there was goose poop everywhere!!! (posted: 2004)Bronze
This beautiful lake is the "Jewel in the Castle Crown". (posted: 2004)Gold
This is one of the best provincial parks to camp at. I would go back. (posted: 2005)Gold

Big KnifeThis Campground was quiet, clean, free firewood, sheltered woods for tenting. Great scenery, nice location if not too windy or rainy. Good place to go for a few days! (posted: 2004)Gold
Comments (2007): I notice your site mentions there is free wood at this park. This no longer applies as we camped there last year and as with most provincial parks this is no longer an option - everyone now pays for wood to burn at sites. The park has many wonderful attributes such as distance from highway and many trails. Unfortunately, there are no concessions power or water connections which are what many people these days are accustomed to. This prehaps keeps the riff raff out which may be a good point in the parks favour. There are a child's wading pool, ball diamonds, and horseshoe pitches but no facilities to attract teenagers or the younger people, such as an arcade with electronic gadgets (which seem to be an absolute necessity for today's youth). Overall, we still rate the park as TOP NOTCH even with its lack of the "essentials" of life in todays fast lane. (posted: 2007)Gold
Bow Valleyno comments (posted: 2004)Silver
(2004): We had a great campsite next to the river bank. Brought our bikes, great paved biking trails. Quiet, great place to camp. We had our RV, so did not use the showers/bathhouse. There was quite a stench there, so would not recommend camping too close. Handy store. Will definitely go again. (posted: 2004)Silver
(2004): Right next to main Rail line, and VERY noisy at night when many trains pass by. (posted: 2004)Bronze
Nice paved bike paths and paved campground trails. Nice private sites. Interpretive program in summer is awesome - very informative/entertaining for all ages. Suggest reservations. (posted: 2005)Gold
Bragg Creek(2004): Quiet!!!! (posted: 2004)Gold
McCelan Creek PP (2004): Stayed the May long weekend. Large, private sites. quiet. Some hiking trails, not the greatest for biking. Good playground. Saw a mother and baby moose about 100 m away from playground, just standing there. Conservation officers came in to try to get them to leave. Big complaint is the dusty gravel campground roads - very dusty. Anytime a vehicle drove by, a cloud of dust came in our site. Yuk. If I would have known that, I probably would not have booked. (posted: 2005)Bronze
Comments (2005): Have camped at Gooseberry campsite for 2 years now. Lovely site, The only complaint I have is that the Caretaker of this site could use a course in Western hospitality.this was his first year there and he was not too friendly as compared to the one you had last year. Too bad as we had been there with many different friends and they were turned off by him this year. We will return only if his attitude improves or someone else is there.Too bad as it is a beautiful site (posted: 2005)Bronze
Comments (2006): Very nice park and nice and close to the city. We normally camp at the Beaver Flats Campground but we also had a problem with the site manager a couple of years ago. I emailed a complaint about him to the people that are in charge of these things and didn't recieve a very positive response, they defended his poor attitude. Anyway, we'll return but not for the hospitality. (posted: 2006)Silver

Calhoun Bay(2004): We have been here alot, but that was 2 years age. We recently went (2004) with our boat and wrecked our boat trailer on the boat launch, the boat launch and creek don't seem to be maintained. Once you get past all the sand the fishing is pretty good though. I would go back if they fixed their boat launches. (posted: 2004)Silver

Carson-PegasusComments: Really enjoyed our stay, everyone had fun and the kids even caught fish. One of the cleanest and quietest Provincial Parks we've stayed in. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments: no comment (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments: Very clean, hotties working at the grocery store by the boat launch, free wood, nice sites with great privacy. Excellently maintained hiking trails and spotless restrooms (outhouses are ok). I hope to return someday soon. If only the fish were a little dumber... (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments: The girl at the boat launch store is very friendly, I am going to ask her to marry me this year! (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): I would definitely return. The wildlife was fantastic, the outhouses were reasonably well kept, most of the sites are big and well treed and the fishing (although we didn't manage to catch anything) is great. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): Loved this park! The firewood was free, the washrooms were clean and the sites were quiet (walk-in tent sites). The only downfall...they charge for reservations. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): great place nice fish a corner store with pefect everything nice people it s the best camsite in alberta (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): This is a wonderful family park. Lots of great fishing there. It's also great that you have the option of renting and boat to fish if you want to. The caretaker (host) was a very nice gentleman. He even loaned us a hook to fish with. We will definately return again. (posted: 0000)Silver

Comments (2005): Great campsite - clean and quiet, with a lot of well-treed sites. Beautiful lake (not much of a beach). Firewood included in cost. Clean facilities. One of our favourites. (posted: 2005)Gold

Comments (2006): Have camped here for over 30 years. Originally a forestry campsite. We have always had a great camping experience here. However, as a handicapped person I think the water should last longer. Usually takes 3 loonies to shower. Sad to have to pay for firewood, though. Some campers were greedy with firewood use, just like the fisherman who keep all they catch. Catch and release, please! (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2007): First time there.. the staff when we arrived were so pleasant and helpful. Nice sites. nice trails, found the washrooms a bit stinky but overall would return (posted: 2007)Gold
We stayed here in summer of 2007. Was booked for a week and stayed 2 nights. The 27.00/night for the campsite plus the 45.00 I spent on wood each night = a nights stay at the West Edmonton Mall. Will not go back....I can't afford it. I can't see camping without having a fire to enjoy. (posted: 2008)Bronze

Cold LakeComments: Beautiful area of the province. Great campground with nicely spaced sites and some good walk-in sites. Lots and lots of really cool birds!! (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): A very clean, well kept Provincial campground. Sites are reasonably priced and wood is dry and FREE. Washroom facilities are very clean but the 'low flow' showerheads are next to useless. Very good boat launch with adequate room in the parking area. My only complaint - Typically it's not a problem to get a site on a Friday afternoon/evening, but there are times throughout the summer (usually long weekends) that people go up early and 'reserve' a site by paying for a site starting on Wed and just leave a couple of lawn chairs out. It's a practice that is not equitable and park employees should make every effort to discourage this practice. Overall an excellent park, that I make use of nearly every weekend. (posted: 0000)Gold

Crimson Lake(2004): We stayed there for more than 2 weeks in the fall and we have been to the lake several time during the summer (but didn't camp). It is a beautiful campground lots of privacy with large treed sites. There are trails everywhere. A Wonderful place for biking. The place was so peaceful, we woke up several times to deer grazing outside. The washrooms and out houses were very clean and didn't smell(That may not be the case in the summer when it is very busy). They could use more showers for the size of the campground. The beach can get very busy on those hot summer days but the water isn't too weedy. (posted: 2004)Gold
Great Beach..Nice Trails (posted: 2004)Gold
Up to 5 campers / trucks / SUVs per campsite. No quiet hours. Not for families with small children or anyone who needs more than 4 hours of sleep. (posted: 2004)Bronze
The campground was Ok - lots of fuzz on the trees so don't go if you have allergies. The showers were absolutely torturous. I think I lost two layers of skin because the water was not adjustable. Bathrooms were also very dirty. (posted: 2004)Bronze
(2004): I can't say enough about Crimson Lake. They have the nicest staff working there. The out houses are cleaned every day and smell as good as any indoor bathroom. The showers are also wonerful and clean. The camp sites are big and very clean. The only thing about it is that others don't appreticate it as much as we do. They now have a store right there and a resturant at the beach. The Beach is very well maintained and patrolled. We highly recommend this spot to any one (posted: 2004)Bronze
They take reservations but NO refunds if you cancel which stinks. (posted: 2005)Bronze
Comments (2005): i loved it, its a great place for the family. showers and washrooms were clean, and you can make day trips into the mountains! thats what we did, the lake is nice for swimming. went to Rocky Mountain House which is near by. Very nice Camground!! (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2005): We went here for a weekend. The campsites are nice and have lot's of tree coverage( great for tenting) The beach was nice but the water sucked! If you like swimming don't go there. It has some awesome trails around it so for biking and walking and hiking it is great. Bathrooms are clean and pretty well kept also! (posted: 2005)Silver
Comments (2005): (posted: 2005)Silver
Comments (2005): I have conducted a camp in their group site for about 5 years. The staff could not be more helpful, trails are great. The 10k race in August is good addition. (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2007): Camped there last summer of 2006 and had so much fun. Brought our madriver canoe and paddle the shallow lake and enjoyed so much that we were thinking of going there back next time (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2007): Awesome campground with private sites that are well treed and easy to access with a large trailer. Beach area is clean and well maintained. Will return again. (posted: 2007)Gold
park looked like shit, was not maintained well too many pakies (posted: 2008)Bronze
Cross LakeComments (2004): While growing up my family and I would go there every summer. Now that I have kids of my own, I would take them there on a family camping trip. The only thing that has realy gone down hill is the beach and the fishing. They need to lay fresh sand on the beach and stock the lake. (posted: 0000)Silver
Comments (2006): Has to be one of the nicest campgrounds around. The prices are very affordable, the staff are nice, the washrooms are clean and you do not have to pay for your wood. It has to be one of the greatest campgrounds if you have a family. (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2006): An addition to someone else's comment. The firewood is no longer free. $5.00/bundle. This was a decision by the couple who run the park. Last year there were some folks that wasted a huge amount. There are some people that spoil it for others. The park is still an excellent family park though! (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2007): Cross lake has a good eye for campers... Espespecialy the lake. Great trails just love the cement. It's all great!! (2007) (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2007): Campsites are great! Bathrooms clean. Wood $5/bundle but the bundles are huge and the wood is really dry so burns well. The beach needs some work, and the water is sort of an algae milkshake and a bit stinky. So overall good for camping, I would not consider this a swimming lake. (posted: 2007)Silver
Cypress Hills(2004): The "lake" is so narrow that you could straddle it in places. Why they would allow power boats at all on this pond is beyond my understanding. The "beach" is no bigger than a sandbox. There are no campfires allowed anywhere. (posted: 2004)Bronze
(2004): Great Park. The Camping sites are varried in services and habitat. Something for everyone, from the large RV to the smallest tent. Water sports are excelent, fishing, swimming, boating, ... The trails are as divers as the Park itself. You could live in this park and never experiance all it's wonders. A must to see (posted: 2004)Gold
Comments (2005): Great place with good campground hosts. Staff very attentive and friendly (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2006): I found the CO's to be very rude. Anyone looking to have a big family get together should think of going else where! (posted: 2006)Bronze
Dillberry LakeComments (2004): My friends and I used to ride our bikes 20km to go camping in Dillberry Lake every summer when we were kids. On a recent visit I saw that the water level has dropped, but that it is still a great place to bring the kids. It is quiet, very secluded and private campsites, sandunes to play in, and berries everywhere. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2007): The sites were beautiful and quite private. The beach was fabulous and the swimming area's water level was low enough that you didn't have to worry about the little ones' safety. I also thought that the park, bathrooms, showers, etc were very clean and well maintained. The only downside was that the park wardens did not enforce camp rules very well. Some partiers were allowed to play loud music until all hours of the night and large groups (15-20 people) on one site were not discouraged. It made it hard to sleep if you had young children and needed the rest. (2007) (posted: 2007)Silver

Fish Creek(2004): Great day use park located in Calgary. The trails along Fish Creek are excellent for birding (posted: 0000)gold
(2004): Actually called Fish Lake near Nordegg. Very nice, quiet, well maintained campground. Large sites. Awesome area, lots to see and do around Nordegg. Cleanest outhouses I have ever seen. Only complaint was that the wood was too fresh and very hard to burn (posted: 2004)Gold
Gooseberry LakeThis campground should definitely be a bronze rating or lower. Out of most of the Provincial Parks to stay at, this one was very disappointing. The tenting sites had little to no privacy, had no way to tie up tarps for shelter from possible rain. Seemed to be run down, not well taken care of. Campground wasn't pleasant to look at. Lake was low (not their fault), had to drive to showers, no signage for tenting campsites. I could go on, but will not. For the drive from Edmonton, this was NOT worth it. (posted: 2004)Bronze
Well looked after. Very clean. Beautiful trees and a wonderful small nine hole golf course. New playground. Nice wading pool for young children. Lake is not a good selling feature. (posted: 2004)Silver
(2004): Quiet, clean, golf course nearby, showers at clubhouse, what else do you really nee (posted: 2004)Silver
Gregoire LakeComments: No Comments (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): we lucked out and got the best tenting site at the campground...lots of privacy and trees to tie tarps to. The firewood was way too expensive at $5/armload. The outhouses were dirty, and ran out of toilet paper on the Friday of Canada Day long weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the officers who came by at 11:00pm were very rude to us, even though we wern't the ones making noise (that was the next campsite over). He told us that even though we wern't the ones making noise, "with my mood tonight, you should all go to bed." What an A$$! (posted: 0000)Silver
Comments (2005): It is great what are you talking about (posted: 2005)Silver
Comments (2006): If you are from out of town and thinking about coming and staying at this location think again! It is a beautiful park but outhouses are dirty, and if you want to have a conversation by the fire any later than 11:00 you mine as well forgetabout it. My wife and I were sitting by the fire and the wardens came and told us to shut it down for the night and go to bed! I asked them why and they told us not to start talking back or they will call the cops. This is not uncommon, as many of our friends have been dealt with the same way. We now go out of our way just not to visit this location. They may as well shut this park down and build houses here as well or divide it into a trailer park and dress the wardens up like MR. Leahy and Randy to be the trailer park supervisors. (posted: 2006)Bronze
Hilliard's BayComments: Free firewood, yahoo! Rates are very reasonable. The fishing is fantastic. Showers are very clean. Very private sites. (posted: 0000)Silver
Great park. Sites are private, excellent fishing, CO's and campground staff are very friendly, free firewood, nice beach and great day use are. An absolute great stay. (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2006): Excellent place. Many sites to choose from. Fishing is the best in the province. Not the best firewood by far, but it is free!... So take your time and choose wisely. In the peak season time, there is an on site camp helper/guide, nice to know someone is keeping the rowdies in check. Showers and toilets are clean. (posted: 2006)Gold

Historic DunveganComments (2004): Historic Dunvegan is a wonderful park to visit, Beautifully Groomed and well maintained. Nice Historic tours are provided and a great gift shop. The peace river valley and Dunvegan bridge are not to be missed. The Conservation Officers all always Friendly and helpful. This is an annual trip for the family. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): We have been camping here every year for quite some time now and it's still a favorite with our family. The facilities are always clean and the staff and officers always friendly. There's always something to do - tour the museum and mission buildings, play horseshoes or volleyball or many other activites with all equipment available for loan, ride bikes on paved roads and paths, visit the antique store or the ice cream parlour or play mini golf. It's always a good time! (posted: 0000)Gold

Comments (2006): Recommmended. Wapiti Campground is great, if you prefer a smaller campground, still has all the facilities, clean ones too. The campground is along the Athabasca river and gives lots of walking and biking opportunities. Would recommend to others. (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2006): Stayed at Wabasso, nice campground, trees are sparse, nowhere to tie up tarps. Federal money grab $8.00 wood burn permit, includes wood. Poor value for what you get, no showers or flush toilets. If you reserve ahead prepare to tke what you get. (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2006): Accomodations in Jasper are extremely expensive and does not have the equal value of what you pay for. Booking ahead in Jasper is definitely recomemded. For a better accomodation value try to overnite at Hinton instead of Jasper, which only take 1.5 hours drive time. The icefields parkway have a toll fee of CAD15.00, which is definitely not worth the value. The road conditions are very mediocre & austere. Finall word, all scenic spots & road direction of parks system in Canada are poorly sign or even no sign at all, In order to make your trip worthwhile a detail map (which will increase the trip budget) is definitely a neccessity. Comments (2006): Just returned from there, great campground, awsome lake but the beach is okay lots of goose poop, and the showers were gross, drains were clogged with hair, used soap bars were laying in the stalls and even a used tampon, I would advise the cleaning crew to check up on such a place more often, other than that it was all okay exept people should controll their dogs better don't lock them up in a cage go away for 6 hours and let your pooch bark all day long. (posted: 2006)Silver
Comments (2006): This park is in a beautiful location and some attempt has been made on the beach area and design - however much more can and should be done to this park. One can atleast swim in this water, unlike other park locations. The toilet houses are not cleaned regularly, floor, sink and walls are likely bacteria infested. Toilets unsafe for use by small kids. The beach requires sand, not huge rocks and tilled soil. How expensive is sand on a beach - obviously too expensive for our oil-rich province. I am sick of taking my kids to such crappy parks and recreation areas and having to explain to them why more is not done. Put a schedule on the concession so the public knows when it is open, and when it should be open. This concession had no menu or notice of what they provide, so maybe start working on this one. There is a mosquito and ant problem at this location, so don't lie down for too long here in its current state. (posted: 2006)Bronze

Lesser Slave LakeComments: The out houses were very filthy even after the cleaning lady came in. The stench was unbearable outside the out house. Can you imagine the inside? Sleeping and eating on the campground is NOT advisable. I realize out houses are not the greatest but I've never been to one as bad as Lesser Slave Lake campground! (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): Beautiful, well maintained campground. Incredible beaches (best in Alberta), great swimming and amazing fishing. Lots of interesting hiking trails. (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2004): We visited martin River Campground just 15 minutes away from Slave Lake town and 5 to 10 minutes away from Devonshire Beach where they hold their annual Sandcastle ..or should I say sand sculpting competiton each year. Everything was wonderful! The provincial campsite was great...Slave lake water @ Devonshire Beach and Martin River Campground very warm and shallow. My husband who is 6 ft.3" walked out into the water to the length of one and a half football fields before the water came up to his neck. WOW!  Sandy floor too! Loved it...and the prizes were great from the sand sculpting competiton too! Thanks everyone! Calgary family(first time campers!) (posted: 0000)Gold
Comments (2006): Martin River Campground:We stayed in loop C. The pit toilets were discusting and the smell was unbearable outside. The flush toilets/showers are closed for 2 hours daily for cleaning from 11am-1pm??? Cannot reserve ahead so if you are travelling any distance, forget it. The young lady at the booth needs a course on customer service. Unfortunatley they have got you because they are pretty much the only game in town. Will NEVER go back. (posted: 2006)Bronze

Comments (2007): 2007 - My family and I live in Slave Lake and have enjoyed camping at Martin River in the last four years. Unfortunately we have only been able to camp there 4 times in the last four years. Up until this year, we have had to pay for an extra night or two and take our camper out there on a Wednesday or Thursday just to ensure we could have a spot to camp for the weekend. Reason why we have only camped. Last year in 2006 we found out that several people we knew had actually had their campers out there in powered sites for practically the whole summer as they were travelling back and forth further north for work and they would just go back to the Martin River camp ground to sleep. this was disappointing as this was taking away from others to enjoy the campsite. This year 2007 we were pleased to hear that you could reserve a site to camp. We thought this would eliviate some of the problems we had to be able to get out there to camp. We pulled our camper out mid week and stayed till Sunday. While there I reserved a site for September long weekend. I gave my credit card to reserve and was told that the first night cost and an $8.00 charge was going to be placed on my credit card. This was fine with me as it ensured that we would get a site for long weekend. Prior to us leaving on the sunday I stopped at the booth to enquire to see if any reserved sites were still available during the months of august on the weekends. If I could find out if there were any reserved sites available then my husband and I could go home and figure out a weekend that we might be able to return in August and then we would call back to the campground and reserve for one weekend in August. The worker in the booth at the time asked me if I had reserved already this summer. I had told her that we had a reservation for September long weekend but would like to try to camp one weekend in august. She became very rude with me and told me that if I had a reservation for long weekend in September that I would have to give that reservation up if I wanted to reserve for a weekend in August. I asked if they had any regulations posted for this and she snapped at me and said that was the rules. I relayed to her that we would think about it but that we would probably just leave it then and take our chances to try and pull our camper out one weekend in August and hope to get a spot. I told her that I would rather keep our reservation for our powered site for long weekend then give it up. It was at that time to my surprise that I was told that they could not gaurantee that I would get a powered spot. I told her that I had specifically reserved a powered site for September long weekend and that charge for the first night PLUS the $8.00 fee was charged to my credit card already and that better be what I get. She was rude and ignorant and basically told me that we would get what we would get...that it was first come first serve. If we pulled our camper out there in enough time and they still had a reserved site available with power then we would get it. To me this is unprofessional behaviour and false information. You are led to believe that you will get a powered site when you reserve AND REQUEST IT. This woman was rude, showed no patience at all with customers who were coming into the park. My husband and I enjoy Martin River provincial camp ground for so many reasons. The sites are beautiful. The lake is beautiful. The park offers so much with their theater etc. And the camp hosts have always been wonderful. However the staff in that booth definitely require some customer training. My family and I only live a half an hour from this beautiful park so if we are unable to get a campsite it is not as hard on our wallet for cost wise ie: gas expense. I feel terribly sorry for out of town people who come here and are treated that same way. I know for a fact that while I was in the office there were three out of town campers who were treated rudely and whom I am sure will never return due to the treatment they received. It is a shame as we have such a beautiful park - unfortunately dealing with the staff leave something to be desired and leave a bad taste in the mouths of tourists. I think the park needs to regulate proper rules and not lapse in them. I know for a fact there are a few people within Slave Lake who have reserved sites several weekends in a row...I wonder how this is possible?? (posted: 2007)Silver

Comments (2007): Used to go to Martin River provincial park frequently. Have to travel from Edmonton (3.5 hours) but was worth the trip. New management is horrible. People parking boats etc. on sites to hold for later, or friends from town. Don't even try anymore-no sites available and nobody seems to actually be in charge. Was a great place until it became well known. Just a party place for every drunk with a trailer now...too bad. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): Marten River Campground (2007) - Very Beautiful Campsite located in a very beautiful part of Northern Alberta... The beaches out here are definitely the best in Alberta ! The Camp Host Couple are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome here. The Female Staff member working the booth definitely does need help with her customer service skills... She is abrupt with guests and gives you the impression that you are bothering her when you talk to her. During our visit to this campsite there was a mother bear that had been sighted wandering around. (We found this out later from fellow campers in the site.) There was no mention of this made when my family and I arrived and did not know anything about the bear until my child spotted it while out on a bike ride in the "A" loop. We are thankful that other campers were close by the trail where the bear was and directed the children in the area back to their campsites before anything horrible happened. When I mentioned the bear to the girl in the booth - she just looked at me and said "Well this is Bear Country." And dismissed my concerns. I would recommend this site for the beautiful scenery & the clean and well-maintained campsites. This is not a campsite where you are going to get that warm & fuzzy feeling from the staff (namely the girl in the booth - she don't give a damn if you enjoyed your stay!) (posted: 2007)Silver
Comments (2007): Funny to see some of the comments on this certain female staff member in the booth. I have been going to Martin River campground for 4-5 years and while I love the new reservation system, I agree, that one certain female in the booth was incredibly rude. She definately thinks she's doing you a favor by answering your questions. (posted: 2007)Gold

Sites too small and bunched together. No privacy from one to the next campsite. Management are unfriendly and have little to no customer appreciation or service skills with way TOO MUCH ATTITUDE. Also, tenters are not welcome!!! Look for somewhere else to camp you are not wanted! (posted: 2004)Bronze

Comments (2007): (2007)Novice campers who went here with our new tent trailer only to be met by unfriendly management. We left to try McGregor Lake only to find foot long grass and filthy washrooms. We decided to go up the hyway to Wyndham. Upon our late arrival (11:00 PM) we were met by courteous security staff who assisted us in locating a vacant site. Their kindness followed through when they helped us set up our new tent trailer and brought us some spare firewood. We had a great weekend! (posted: 2007)Bronze

Comments (2006): I cannot believe how unorganized and unprofessional the manager and certain other staff were regarding reservations. I called the Little Bow Park approx. one week prior to August long weekend to make a reservation to camp for 4-5 days. The staff told me it was a "first come, first serve basis". So I didn't worry. Then I pulled my trailer down on a Thursday night for the weekend and they told me only overflow camping is available (they were full)even though I could see there were many open spots left, and they proceded to tell me I would be in the parking lot (camping on pavement)now as there are no spots left. I told them they needed to get their story straight as I was told it was "first come, first serve". Then the manager said they were taking reservations up until Thursday and then it was first come first serve basis. I was so angry!!! I told the manager that I just called on Thursday night to reserve but your staff wouln't let me....Thanks alot. I had my 17 month old son in the truck as I was agruing with mangement and I guess he had a guilty sense and decided to give me a spot...Oh my gosh...all of a sudden a spot miraculously appears after all that bull! I think we really need to look at who is hired at the Little Bow Park year to year. It has never been the same since it's been contracted out. Private managment plays favors! It's not right! (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2006): (2006) Terrible management this year. We paid double occupancy for one site on September long weekend. We had one tent trailer and a tent.(4 adults and a child). If that was a problem why nobody told us so we could reserve two sites. My suggestion, any rules with the price schedule should be posted at the entrance so people will know what to expect.I think that is very unfair to charge people for one site $40.00 a day. We could not rent a boat, because manager was not sure if a boat will be available next day. He asked us to wait for him at the lake between 7-8am and if he shows up that means he can find a boat for us. Is that a professional business approach? I do not think so. We were disappointed and decided never go back to that place if the same people will be running the camp. (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2007): Management and employees are very unorganized. We reserved 5 sites and had to pay extra ($10 more per site to make reservations, and they charge all of the sites and nights right away). When we arrived for the weekend of camping and having fun we were told that even though we had reservations he did not have enough sites for everyone in our group. We argued with this gentlemen (using this term loosly) for about an hour before he was able to find us 5 sites. Someone like this should NOT be running this campground. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): June (2007) Little Bow is one of our favorite places, the new management team is doing much better a little patience goes along way. They are in there 2nd year. The setting is wonderful I have never had issues with my reservations, and the sites are well maintained and clean. Staffing anywhere is not easy here is no different. Camping is about relaxing don't get your back up. At the end of the day this is one of the nicest spots in Southern Alberta. Camping is a lifestyle, you weekend warriors need to relax and learn to have some patience. From mid 30's couple with 3 kids who love the beach and love this campsite. (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2007): DO NOT GO HERE! this is a warning to all! as mentioned by other posters the guy running the place is a complete joke! several things wrong with this place, first off the site they gave us, the firepit was just off the gravel...we couldn't even open our awning or we would risk melting it, so i got them to give us another site, which the other site was only a tiny bit wider, but at least we could open our awning. secondly my inlaws were also staying in our trailer and they had their own car, we were told by the lady at the check-in desk that we are allowed 3 pieces of equipment on our site, (eg, boat, trailer, vehicle) since we didn't have a boat 2 vehicles and a trailer should be fine...so we thought. the first night MR. bigshot comes by on his golfcart and tells us to move the car that is on the grass, i said "we were told we could have 3 pieces of equipment, he said "those 3 pieces of equipment have to stay on the gravel" HA try fitting those 3 pieces on the gravel..the sites are TINY! also i said to him there are boats parked on the grass all over our campground..his reply was "those are boats not vehicles" is there a difference i thought? father-in-law then had to park his car in a parking lot. while we were walking back to our campsite there were numerous vehicles parked on grass, i think that if you make a rule, this rule should be passed on to everyone, not just singling out certain people. (he probably picked on us because the inlaws didn't have to pay because we are allowed 6 people on a site) lastly the sewage dump station..never in the 5 years i have pulled a trailer did i have to pay to dump my tanks! 3.00 here and not only that you must pull your unit up a long steep hill in order to get there, once i got there the water hose did not work, also there is an evaporation pond for the sewage, so they don't even truck it away therefore whats the 3.00 for? not a good thing to be said about this place and the management is terrible! i would give this place maybe a 2 out of 10. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): The swimming area is pleasant, with a fairly large beach, and lots of shade trees for really hot days, but the water is apparently infested with Swimmer's Itch. A warning sign (like the ones in BC) would have been nice, as the resulting papules and hives are extremely itchy and painful. Although we had a very enjoyable day, we will not return, as the after effects are terrible. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): The man running it is horrible.... Too bad for the tournament fisherman and campers, because it is a nice site, but with the guy who is running it right now (2007) I won't go near it!!! (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): I have lived in the Vulcan area my entire life. We would often get off school on Fridays and head down to Little Bow for a swim and what not. The management there has been brutal for years, they are jerks and will always be jerks. Every time we pulled in they would "report us" and write our license plates down. Just hassle us until we left, lots of times we were with our parents. If you want to camp on the lake still, I would recommend Travers Dam at the South East end of the lake. Any local knows where it is, I believe there are signs, I have never had to pay attention. It is quiet, just bathrooms nothing else, or free range camping right on the lake. I believe that Little Bow will be ruined until new management is appointed. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): The Management at this site is a complete joke!!!! The guy running it seems to think he is the "be all end all" and he is nothing but a power hungry goof. Comments (2007): I was at this campground once before it officially opened in 2006 and it was ok. We went once more after the season opened and it was nothing but a free-for-all !!! Kids - noise - management is a complete joke here. I sent e-mails to the government regarding who they're contracting out to. Unfortunately this fella with the contract now has a problem with the English language. He also has the MacGregor Lake Reservoir and you can't camp there at all anymore. We stopped once late last year when we were boating to use the facilities and found they hadn't been cleaned out (sani-trucked) all year !!! It was full !!!! No kidding !!! If we find this again - because we do go there to go boating - we will take pictures and have the place condemned. Two great parks that you can't go to anymore !!!Sucks big time. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2007): (2007)I wouldn't recommend this campground, nor would I return to this campground if it continued to operate under the same management. We've called well in advance to reserve 3 spots next to each other. We were going with some friends, and all of us have small children. When we arrived, we were nowhere close to each other, not even in the same campground loops! Our spot was next to a busy campground road with little green space. It was the worst spot for a family with a busy toddler. The management was unfriendly and disorganized. (posted: 2007)Bronze

Comments (2007): Really liked the campground, found the security very missguided, Actually had one of the management move us off of a spot near the beach because of our dog, in which we believe in the no dogs on the beach rule, and we were nowheres near the beach, Yet at our campsite, dogs were roaming free. the 3 campsites across from us housed no less that 6 families, and at least 11 units consisting of boats, seadoos, cars, trucks, trailers, all parked on the grass at the sites. Other campers had dificulty getting by these units, as the roads are narrow enough as it is. They even blocked the road periodically with little effort to clear when anyone needed to get by or park a larger camper. Security drove by and made no effort to correct. We would go back to little bow. The camp itself made up for the poor management, but I think the management will grow with our comments. They are doing a great job of keeping up with the grounds. With that a closing note... One shower bldg in a campground of this size is also unacceptable. (posted: 2007)Silver
Comments (2007): Wanted to leave a rating on McGregor Reservior Provincial Recreation Area but there is nowhere to post it. In answer to the other fellow who posted about there being no camping at Lake MacGregor (in this Little Bow slot) - wrong! There are 102 large campsites, on property staff during the camping season, firepits, outhouse buildings, etc. Great boating and great fishing - can't keep the walleye you catch in 2007 but maybe next year? Surely a bargain at $12.00 per night per unit! (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2008): Further to postings regarding Lake McGregor and Campgrounds - yes we are quite aware of how many sites are at Lake McGregor - Issues with them being the weeds were 2 - 4 feet tall and the "sites" were cut into the weeds !!!! ALL the grass used to be cut and you weren't sitting in amongst the weeds !! The last time we attempted to camp there - there were no on site supervisors, someone would come around and collect money and then leave - it was a FREAKIN FREE FOR ALL !!!! It was a nightmare - stereos blasting all night long and people running all over the place all night long. If you feel safe with that going on around you and can sleep soundly - you go right ahead and pretend to enjoy that - or maybe you're one of those people who is partying and running around all night long ?? !!! I stand behind my point about the bathrooms not being cleaned out the entire summer season. Hope you don't need to use the bathrooms !! If there is on site supervision now that would probably be a better situation but still they raised the rates $2 per night FOR NOTHING !!! There still isn't a dock there, there are NO facilities there and therefore does not rate an increase !! Maybe if they actually cut ALL the grass and made an effort to at least make it LOOK like a campground instead of a HAY field it might rate an increase !!! Baling the grass for hay bales (probably sold to a local farmer) is not a good idea at a campground with FIRE PITS !!!! (posted: 2008)Bronze
Had been going here for over 4 years for every long weekend a year. Always booked 7-8 sites each time with no problems but the last couple of years the new management is terrible. I have 4 dogs and have had them every single time i have gone there but last year they told me that you were only aloud 2 dogs per site, we have always had our kids stay in a tent, but last year they made us pay for our kids tent because one of our kids was 16. We always brought our boat and other vehicle and parked on the grass never said anything until last year we couldn't park on the grass and we had to pay a fee for extra vehicles. What makes me laugh is we were there may long weekend with no problems then again September long weekend and got all these new rules that the management said had been in place for 2 years. News to us. NEED NEW MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!! (posted: 2008)Bronze

Washroom stalls had out of order signs on them but nobody seems to fix them. The cleaning staff don't care to clean the spider webs out the stalls even when asked. Mosquitoes are squished on the walls but not being cleaned off even after 1 weeks stay. Shower stalls have mould growing along the wall seams. Comments (2006): I am amazed at how we live in the richest province in Canada, and so little money/effort appears to go to our parks and recreation in southern alberta i.e. nearer more rural communities, as if somehow our standards and expectations are lower than cities. This park sucks! The drinking water is not fit to drink - one gets a mouth of algae-infested sloth -is this acceptable for public use?! The outside shower is likely also contaminated and has a mud bottom, so you sink in layers of mud. The beach is a great idea around this old lovely irrigation lake, but someone though for some reason that rocks make a beach - think again! How about putting some inexpensive play sand on this beach for the public and kids to build sand-castles and play in. Instead we have our kids playing with huge rocks and asking why there is no sand - even the kids seem to know the stated problems! The park is not that peaceful - they keep making so much noise cutting the grass and other things, so that your peaceful day, resting in the park to enjoy the tranquil beauty of our Prairies turns into being in downtown Calgary. The toilets are foul and so large that one wonders if kids actually have fallen down - extremely dangerous for use by kids! This is perhaps the worst joke of a park I have ever visited - and I have lived and travelled all over the world. Spend some money on your voting citizens, Alberta. (posted: 2006)Bronze

Pigeon Lake / ZeinerComments: We used to go there yearly, but it has gone downhill dramatically. The water has swimmer's itch, and the grass is overrun with grasshoppers (not their fault). The washrooms and showers are disgustingly dirty, the running water smells like something is rotting in it. The campsites themselves are filthy. For $22 per night, the sites should not be full of garbage, and the facilities should be clean.  We will not return. (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): The washrooms are bad, the cleaning staff went in for a total of 10 mins for both mens and womens washrooms. The insects in the bathroom are covering the walls. The water is very bad unless boiled. I would not shower in it as others commented it felt like you put another skin on after the shower.  The wood was long and thin. The pit was very good however.  For $22 a night I think they should do something about water quality and spend a little more than 10 mins cleaning the bathrooms. (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): I would never in a million years return to this terribly kept campground. The registration person was rude. The outhouses were so disgusting I can't even describe it. Someone came in once in 4 days to clean them and did a quick sweep and that was it. And this was a weekend when the campground was packed. The water out of the hookups was not fit for use of any kind. It looked and smelled as though it came directly from the disgusting outhouses. The washroom/shower houses were almost as bad as the outhouses. We do a lot of camping in the "bush" where we're used to not-so-great conditions. This was absolutely horrendous. (posted: 0000)Bronze

Comments (2007): June 2007 - Just finished camping there this past weekend. We had sites right on the lake with power and water and all trailers are parked one in front of the other in one direction and because the sites are small and there is no one to oversee the parking, people have a tendency to pull partway into the next stall. This creates a problem for the end stall users( which we were ) to be able to park 3 trailers in a row. The sites are quite small, but we managed quite well. The grounds were clean and trimmed, the bathroom was kept fairly clean, and no one bothered us or complained about the 4 dogs we had with us. Albeit, they were well behaved and chained up. The water did not smell however, we boiled it as we always do anyway no matter where we camp and we carry bottled water at all times to avoid problems. Check out time is 2:00pm and that is reasonable as some we have been at throughout Alberta it is 11:00am. It seemed a little pricey maybe but we do not always get pwr and wtr. We have camped in much worse. We will go there again as we love boating and fishing and the 5 children with us had no problems. (posted: 2007)Silver
Comments (2006): We have recently been to Pigeon, the price is totally outrageous in comparison to most campgrounds and you have to pay for your own wood which is ridiculously over priced as well. Would not recommend. (posted: 2006)Gold
Comments (2006): The Beach was covered in bugs, there was broken glass throughout the beach... the campsites were poorly taken care of... So we left and will not return (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2006): Great place to fish to bad park is run so bad. Paid for the long weekend up front. (3 nights) Site was right next to stinking bathroom. Was in bed by 10:00pm to go fishing in the morning. Lots of late night traffic to the bathroom, lots of noise. Going to complain next day. Got up early next morning and went and got boat 1 hr away. Came back by 8:00 am and was evicted for noise complaints. Went to office to explain that must be mistake and tried to explain our situation. Very rude and would not listen to our issues. If someone had actually looked into noise complaint would have saw we were in bed and the noise was from the bathroom. No money refunded to us. This campground will never get another penny from me for the rest of our lives. Note: concession on site does not even cook any food. All prepackaged microwave stuff. (posted: 2006)Bronze
Comments (2006): Pigeon Lake, nice treed sites, lots of wildlife. Three moose live there year round, also fox's, deer and lots of birds. We didn't use the beach but I hear it has poisionus algae in the water now. Great for nature lovers, not great for swimmers. (posted: 2006)Silver
Comments (2006): The cleaning staff work very hard to keep the bathrooms & shower houses clean. They were in there 3 times in one day! The concession stand was pitiful, very seldom open and served only pre-packaged sandwiches and subs. The grounds were nicely trimmed. The campsites are big with lots of bathrooms available. The booth staff are a little complacent and don't really go out of their way to help first time visitors to the campground. The beach was much nicer at Zeiner, would recommend to camp at Pigeon lake and use Zeiner for the day use. However, the bathrooms at Zeiner were in sad shape and needed to be cleaned as thoroughly as they are at Pigeon Lake. Wood is expensive, so simply bring your own. (posted: 2006)Silver

Comments (2007): Zeiner campground has an amazing beach and playground area for kids. Pigeon Lake has a rockier beach, but very nice, private stalls. Booth staff is very accommodating and friendly, and go out of their way to help anyone, to the point of actually showing us to our campsite when we couldn't find it ourselves. Very natural park, but maintianed extremely well. Park staff is very hardworking, and works hard to keep up to the 400 plus sites on the lake. Changed operators in 2005, and many upgrades since then. Beautiful park and beautiful staff, would not hesitate to return to this amazing campground (posted: 2007)Gold
Comments (2007): The water at Zeiner was green and gross. The power sites are virtually wide open with no shade or privacy. The wood is a ripe off. And we all got a nice case of swimmers itch. (posted: 2007)Bronze

Comments (2007): I hope management did not write that last comment...because we are booked for the June/july long weekend and thus far I am leary of going there. The 2006 comments don't look very good and if new management took over in 2005...there are still lots of complaints on here....I will forwarn my family now as we booked 5 camp sites at Pigeon Lake!!!! Comments (2007): I worked at this park for two years....and will never work there AGAIN. The pushing point came when the operator refused to refund a little girls' money even though she tripped and fell and split her face open. The park is run for the sake of greed, with no consideration given to the staff at all. I pity anyone who works there. That being said...the lake is beautiful. If there were other campgrounds besides Zeiner and the Provincial Park, i wouldn't hesitate to spend the rest of my life there. Their reservation system is terrible...if you can get by without it..i recommend it. And it is extremely overpriced and the wood prices are OUTRAGEOUS. They are in it for the money, with little care for the people or the park itself. (posted: 2007)Bronze

Comments (2007): (2007) the campsite is over priced and well the price of wood is crazy. the staff was nice but nobody stood behind the staff when there was a problem. the water in the lake was not good this summer. there should be more postings up and more radio postings about how the water is and when the campground is full. there was not enought staff for the phones and lots of people couldn't get throw do to short staff. (posted: 2007)Bronze
Comments (2008): We stayed summer 2007, the park was peaceful, beautiful, and well run. I would have eaten off the bathroom floors. The cleaning staff came twice, and sometimes three times a day to do the bathrooms. The showers are free and hot! We had no problems with the staff, the water (lake) was green, but we still swam. This is a beautiful park, and I look forward to staying again this summer. (posted: 2008)Gold

Comments (2007): Well maintained park with fairly large, quite private camping lots. Bathrooms are the cleanest we've have ever used. On-site camp host is available and quiet hours are from 11:00p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Great fishing, small playground, and hiking trail. Great place to take the children. (posted: 2007)Gold

Comments (2007): We just spent 4 day's and nights at Red Lodge and were very pleased with the camp ground. I have a couple concerns though and one is: The reservation site's appear to be off limits to anyone that has not made a reservation. We did find out that if you check the boeard it will tell you what nights that these spots are reserved. You can then use these spots and be out be the reservation date. Also, there is one camp site that is reserved for only one person only. There is a big sign at the enterance of the site, that is Bull because this is a provintial park (Crown Land) and can be used by anybody. One othere thing there is no one around to answer your questions. (posted: 2007)Gold
Rochon SandsComments (2004): Loved Rochon Sands, friendly people, nice treed campsites and the kids loved the lake. Sandy beach and sandy bottom. We'll be back. (posted: 0000)Gold

too bad there is a management company now, as we have gone there for 12 years and always found a spot, now with the management company and their reservation procedure, you can't get a spot apparently, yet when we are there, there are always lots of empty lots. (posted: 2008)Gold

Seibert LakeComments: we were only there once but will definitely go back. the campgrounds were very well kept, the bathrooms were very impressive, not I say NOT at all were they in any way dirty, I"ve never seen such clean ones.  Good work.  The only thing you need there is a little better access to it. We stayed at at this campsite in 2004 and were charged $45/night for 3 tents with three people on "one" campsite which was as level as a mountain top and about the size of a stamp. What a ripoff. The water is so low most people had a great deal of trouble putting their boat in the water. Would not go back. (posted: 2005)Bronze

Comments (2004): Was at the park over the May long weekend and the fish flies are so bad that a walk along the beautiful white beaches were impossible. The fish flies along Lac La Biche Lake is absolutely terrible. Due to this problem no activities can be performed along the beaches, waterfront or trails. It was disgusting! (posted: 0000)Bronze

Comments (2005): The fish flies have 3 to 4 hatches a year, and after they hatch usually hang around for 4-5 days then they're gone. Agree it's hard to enjoy yourself when they are thick, but they disappear pretty quick. Churchill's to beautiful a place not to go because of some bugs. (posted: 2005)Gold

Comments (2004): The campground is well maintained , but after recommending it on two separate occasions, both groups had run in's with staff. One of the groups included an 80 year old grandpa and a 3 week old baby, which were asked to shut down there camp fire at 11;00. The baby was sleeping and grandpa is not a party person. It shut down an otherwise nice visit. The second occasion was very similar, its to bad that the staff takes this approach, as it is otherwise a beautiful campground. As a local sylvan resident I will not recommend this campground again. (posted: 0000)Silver
Comments (2005): Very pleasaed with our stay!! Cleanest facilities we've used, nice playground and well laid out treed sites. Maybe the privacy of our site was key to having a fire well past 11,seems to be an issue even for quiet folks. (posted: 2005)Gold
Comments (2005): Sept 2 - 5 2005 - Harassed by nasty park wardens constantly. They were so busy harassing campers that they neglected to see/smell the unkept filthy outhouses. Seems like no one is allowed to enjoy themselves at this campground. Telling people to keep the noise down at 8:15 pm. while Karaoke crowd could be heard until well after dark. (posted: 2005)Bronze

Wabamun LakeComments: Not much to do, swimming is "not recommended", poor maps/signs. Our site offered very little privacy and ZERO shade. Staff seemed disorganized and gave us conflicting info.  The firewood we purchased was wet and too expensive. (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments: staff has no cust, service at all.  For a campground that holds over 200 sites there is only 2 shower stalls that work and only 2 bathrooms for men and women. not good enough. (posted: 0000)Bronze
Comments (2004): The lake gave me red bumps all over my skin which is really itchy, don't swim in that lake, radio active stuff gets poured into it by the plant by the beach, gel looking thing floating on seaweed which goes up to the top of the water, fur plants which look like dog hair are forming on the bottom of the lake probably from polution, not recommended,I saw a fish which was mutated with legs and pointing things coming out of its head probably was a catfish before mutated. DONT SWIM IN THAT LAKE!!!!!!!!! (posted: 0000)Bronze

Comments (2004): I am sorry that others had a bad stay. The showers were free, bathrooms aplenty (outhouses) as well as flush toilets in 2 locations. There are many lots to choose from so if you have shade and want for sun they are willing to let you move around. The staff drove a truck around offering firewood for sale. There is also a store at the campgound and ice cream at the beach. While we were there we saw rabbits. 3 deer and plenty of squirrels. We hat a great time. (posted: 0000)Gold

Comments (2006): (2006)Park was renovated in previous year- no new maps with proper site numbers had been provided by the July Long Weekend. The campground guide implies that there was hiking trails, but I couldn't find them (and there was no maps of trails or any signage)Firewood was $6/bundle and did not burn that great. As swimming in the lake is dodgy, there was little as an adult to do in the park. Non-power sites were semi private, but could see into other sites. The washrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Overall, I would camp there only if it was an option of camping there or not camping at all. (posted: 2006)Silver

Comments (2006): One campground they advertised as a beautiful area was actually a farmer's field with a billion flies. It was not located right in Waterton but on the outskirts and was the worst camping experience. You could not cook outside because there were swarms and swarms of flies. (posted: 2006)Bronze

One of the worst camping experiences of my life. definitely not worth $30 a night. The park ranger removed us the next morning after ONE alleged noise complaint from our rude neightbors. He did not witness any noise, no one else complained (we spoke with other campsites next to us who did not have a problem), we had a spotless campsite and we were in bed by midnight! It was a disgusting example of age discrimination (there were four of us camping age 25 to 26). It was Canada day long weekend so as we packed up (in the 30mins he gave us) there were people waiting in their car next to our site to get a spot. What a disgusting way to make a few more dollars. I'm an avid camper and would never return to Waterton again. I'm appalled at the way we were treated. (posted: 2008)Bronze
