| ASESSIPPI IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE IN MANITOBA ! I RETURN EVERY YEAR!!! (posted: 2005) | Gold |
| Comments (2005): we have been going to asessippi for 20 years now, it has always been clean and only fishing boats. It is to bad that word has got out, because now it is awful. Sea doos are taking, over ski boats swamp the fishing boats and we even had one nut that was trying to splash people on the beach with his boat motor, it is a wonder he didn't cut someone in half. There are so many young people coming out now on weekends to party. The staff is great but i think it is just getting to much for them. The showers used to be spotless all the time, but unfornately there are a lot of people who have come for the clean washrooms but mess them up badly for other people. (posted: 2005) | Silver |
| Comments (2007): The only park we go to!Very clean, great staff, great fishing. My only complaint is...some people with small dogs think the leash law does not apply to them,Please small dog or not leash it. (posted: 2007) | Gold |

| Clearwater Lake | The best one (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| (2004): Very Nice location for the campground!! Its very nice and quiet in the campground, and the fishing is great!! Having the lake right near by makes you stay that much more enjoyable! The hiking trails to the caves are very well maintained, as well as the campground, and you get to enjoy lots of nice scenery while on the trails! I have camped in many different parks, but Clearwater Lake, is the best!!!!

| Dirty water, poor service
(posted: 2004) | Bronze |
| (2004): we enjoyed our weekend at Grand Beach but found the toilets need fixing up and what's with the little squares of paper instead of regular toilet paper. also there are very few services-don't try to buy groceries as the store is very poorly stocked. what's with the firewood-on the sign its available at only one place and at certain times but when we went there we never did find any firewood.

| (2004): Grand Beach used to be a "world class beach". Well, it isn't anymore. The water is polluted, often with dangerously too-high e-coli readings and of course, no warning signs posted. They used to clean the dead fishflies off the beach each morning. Now, they sit and rot (and stink). Fishflies now form a 3-4 foot black barrier before you reach the water. The bathrooms are truly gross (and stink). On the West Beach the flies are thick at the concession stand, so they're all over your food even before you get it. Once you get it, you add condiments (ketchup, etc) that have been sitting in the sun all day with flies from the nearby bathroom all over it. GROSS! Hello? Health Department??? This place used to be so much better. Now it's just a very run-down party beach... (posted: 2004) | Bronze |
| Comments (2006): I think this place is great! I enjoy kayaking here especially in the Lagoon. I agree with the comments regarding water quality, but that is a large scale problem on Lake Winnipeg. I don't understand the complaint about bugs or shopping....the whole point is to get away from the city right? (posted: 2006) | Silver |
| Comments (2007): Grand Beach campground has great campsites and failities. The trails and bike path is second to none and it is not uncommon to see an owl, deer, and other wildlife along the paths. The campground store has some great features including longer hours, availability of firewood and friendly staff. The prices are reasonable and each year the selection gets better and better. The bathrooms in the park need upgrading but are maintained by the cleaning staff very well. I think it is deserving of its' title as one of the top 10 beaches. (posted: 2007) | Gold |

| Hecla / Grindstone | I think it is the best place to go. My moms boyfriend has a cabin at grindstone provincial park and we go fishing and to the stores all the time. I think that they are very friendly people that have what you need to have. You can get a lot of fish for people who like fish or fishing and it is very peaceful.

| a really nice place (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| Comments (2006): We have a cabin out in Grindstone, and we love it there! There is always the slight problem of over-zelous bears, but if you follow the instruction on how to get rid of your garbage, you probably wont have a run in with them. Quiet and peacefull, this is the place to go if you want some time alone. The beachs are wonderfull (I highly recomend Island veiw North Beach) and the cornor store by blacks point is convinent, although it smells of milldew. (posted: 2006) | Gold |
| Gull Harbor Campground - Late August 2007, my friend and I needed a place to relax. It was perfect! The hiking trails are mild, tennis court, marsh boardwalk, swimming, small restaurant...not a crazy amount to do, but it served its purpose for us! (posted: 2008) | Gold |

| Nopiming | absolutely beautiful, so untouched by humans.....the only downfall is the gravel road you have to drive for over half an hour....but that's the price you pay for serenity. (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| A wonderful wilderness park. I would not recommend bringing in large boats or trailers due to the rough winding conditions of the road but a paradise for lighter campers. (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| (2004): We had such a great time! The roads aren't the greatest but we enjoyed the camping. We've been to black lake and beresford lake. A huge park, lots to see and do. (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| I having been going to birds lake and black lake for 16 yrs since i was a small child. It is very peaceful . i take my children there. All there is you the outhouse and mother nature. Doug the ranger is a real seetheart and his fox that comes arround each year is beautiful. (posted: 2005) | Gold |

- Small store on site.

- Sites are a bit small and are sand covered, so sand will get into everything and everywhere!

| Comments (2007): A beautiful and very natural park. There are many song birds there and a nice boardwalk into the marsh. The beach area is great for kids and the camp sights (for the most part) are separated by sufficient trees to give you that sense of privacy, my only low comment is that there are no showers, but it is certainly a park that I would go back to several times (posted: 2007) | Gold |

- HUGE PRIVATE SITES!!
- Good washrooms and showers
- Not recomended if you have children under 7. Not much for them to do.
- Old, run down play structures
- Beach is more mud than sand
Try staying at William Lake. A much nicer stay in the Turtle Mountains. A much bigger and better lake.

| Comments (2005): We've only been to the Whiteshell camping three times - Falcon, Nutimik and Otter falls and each time out of control drunken partiers kept us up all night and terrified our 4 year old son. We didn't appreciate the constant screaming, fighting, loud music and people stumbling through our campsite at 2 am. Doesn't anyone have any respect for anyone else anymore? And where the heck are the Park Police when you need them?! (posted: 2005) | Bronze |
| Comments (2005): My wife and I just got married and spent a weekend at west hawk lake, everyone was great. We waited two hours on Saturday night to get into the West Hawk Inn and once we were in it was a great place, newly renovated, lots of people and dancing, I recommend west hawk lake to anyone who enjoys having fun. During day or night. (posted: 2005) | Gold |

| Comments (2006): West Hawk Lake - NOT for families (unless you take your kids to the bar). Couldn't sleep from the tremendous noise coming from the bar and then, the drunk idiots howling at the moon throughout the campground. Rangers didn't seem to care - no-one challenged them to quiet down. Would NOT return. (posted: 2006) | Bronze |
| Comments (2006): About 10 years ago I camped at West Hawk with a small group. We were actually told to turn off our very low playing jazz music immediately at 11pm by the park rangers. We were only talking and laughing quietly around the campfire (isn't that what people do when they are camping)?
The next time I camped at West Hawk (about 2 years later) it was like a war zone. It sound like nothing has changed. It hadn't rained in a long while and it was very dry, and some idiots at 4am dropped a 20lb propane tank into their fire pit shooting a blue/white flame into the trees. Smart huh? I woke up to the explosion after somehow falling asleep to the sounds of screaming and swearing (I must have been exhausted). Nothing was done. No park rangers to be seen. West Hawk Lake campground is INSANE!!!! DON'T GO unless you are too.
It's not a campground. It's a main street bar outside. (posted: 2006) | Bronze |
| Comments (2006): (2006) I've noticed a lot of people don't mention where they were staying when they had a bad experience in the Whiteshell. It definitely looks like West Hawk Lake is not a place to go camping. I have went to Otter Falls 3 times in the last few years. All I can say is clean washrooms, friendly staff and beautiful sites. All 3 times were completely problem free. Great place to take the kids. (posted: 2006) | Gold |

| Comments (2007): as i do agree west hawk is not the greatest place for family camping (the bar can be noisy and theres only so many park patrol to keep everyone in check.. it's a very high traffic area after all) if you're willing to put up with a little noise on the weekends it's a solid place to go. for those more reserved types there are plenty of campsites in the general area as there are many smaller lakes around. one's best bet would be to research the sites before going there. whiteshell truly does have something for everyone! | Camping at Camp Morton Provincial Park was the best! (posted: 2004) | Gold |
| (2004): Although Camp Morton campground doesn't have running water, the outhouses were extremely clean, as was the rest of the campground. Firewood was provided free, there were numerous scenic hiking trails, a beauiful historic area with old buildings and garndens everywhere, a great catfish stream right beside the campground, and it was right beside the lake. The conservation officers were very nice and made regular patrols through the campground - which wasn't necessary as this was a very quiet, family campground. I will definetly be returning!
